My Story

I am so excited to send my greetings through this letter; God bless you. I am Mariana Candelaria, and my current age is 14 years old. Praise the Lord, we continue attending Jesus Christ Sobering King Church, and we go on Wednesdays. We have already accepted Jesus as our Savior. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My mother is Maria and her age is 39 years old. She makes a living by farming the land and selling cheese to supply our necessities. We do not receive any support from my father since he abandoned us years ago. We raise hens, turkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, and cows; we usually sell them when we have some need. In addition, we grow some herbs, broccoli, cabbage, onions and radishes; we use a part for our consumption and the other part to sell and get income.

This year I am in seventh grade and I like to receive my classes at school because my learning is better. I thank my mother, who is doing her best to support me at school. Since I am at another level, the school supplies are more and expensive, therefore; it is difficult for her to supply everything. My goal is to become an accountant and I trust in God to achieve it. I want to tell you that my native language is one Quiche dialect, and I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it. Due to our low resources, we do not celebrate our birthdays, but my desire is to eat “tamales” on my birthday; it will be special for me. Between all sports, my favorite is soccer. I like Christmas because my family and I get together and eat “tamales” (a typical dish). My favorite drink is Coca-Cola. We are a needy family and our main needs are corn and groceries. I am so blessed to be part of the feeding program and receive my meals. My family and I are so grateful for the attention that we receive from LW. I hope to hear from you soon. Every kind of blessing for you!

Special regards,

Mariana Candelaria Chingo Hernandez
