My Story

This is your sponsored child Yenifer, and I praise the Lord for allowing me to greet you through this letter. Let me tell you that my family and I are members of the Catholic Church. We attend masses on Mondays. My father, Mario Simaj, strives to cover our necessities by working as a farmer and day laborer. Besides that, he raises corn and beans for our consumption. My mother also works hard at home by doing the chores and embroidering napkins. Her name is Mirta Hernandez, and she also raises hens, pigs, sheep, and cows to sell when we need extra income. We are a low-income family, so our priorities are food supplies, especially corn. Thankfully, we all are doing well. I am a second grader this year, and classes are face-to-face. I like this method because I learn my lessons better. Fortunately, my school expenses are not demanding, so it is not difficult for my parents to pay for them. I am still younger, so I do not know what I want to do for making a living.

Christmas is the best time because this reminds me of the birth of Jesus. I also enjoy eating tasty tamales together with my family. I love drinking Incaparina (a typical hot beverage), and soccer is my favorite sport. I turned eight years old in May. What I enjoy the most is sharing a special lunch and a cake with my family to celebrate my birthday. The Quiche dialect is my native language, although I would like to communicate with other people in Spanish someday. I say goodbye to you now, but I want you to know that LW is a crucial means of blessing for many children and teenagers like me because of food, medicine, Christmas gifts, and the gospel, which is the most important. A member of the LW staff encouraged us to continue trusting in God while he took advantage of collecting this information for you. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my letter. I hope to hear from you the next time, and please take care of yourself!

With so much love,

Yenifer Daniela Simaj Hernandez
