My Story

It is a wonderful day to greet you in this opportunity; God bless you! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Full Gospel Church; we go on Saturdays and Sundays. We have already accepted Jesus in our hearts, but we appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us this time. My family is fine, but I want to ask for your prayers for my mother who is having cramps in her neck. She visited a doctor and is taking her medicines. My mother is Maria Esperanza Tum Pu, and she is 32 years old. She tries to help with the income by washing clothes for other people in the village. Moreover, she raises hens to sell. My father is Juan Coj Calachij, and he is 35 years old. He is employed as both a farmer and a day laborer; he does his best to supply the home expenses. We grow corn for the family's consumption.

This is Milsia Karina Coj Tum, and I am 12 years old. I am a fifth-grade student; I receive classes at school, and I am learning a lot. Supporting me at school is hard for my parents because of a lack of resources, and the school supplies are expensive. I wish to study and get to the highest level that I can. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it so that I can communicate better with other people. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. I want to tell you that I like to drink juices of different flavors. I like Christmas time because of the gifts, and I receive one in the feeding program; it makes me so happy. Something I would like to have on my birthday is a “piñata” (a kind of puppet filled with candies) and have a delicious meal to share with my family. Being part of Living Water is a big blessing for me because I receive tasty meals, and it is so helpful for my family and me. At home, the top priorities are groceries and corn. Well, I leave you for now. Every kind of blessing to you!

Lots of love,

Milsia Karina Coj Tum
