My Story

Hello! This is Jessica Carolina Candelaria Barrera Calachij, and I am writing this to tell you about my life. Currently, my family and I are members of Church of Christ, and we attend services on Wednesday and Sundays. We are sure of our Salvation, and we have been encouraged to continue seeking God. My father’s name is Gregorio. He is 42 years old, and he is in good health. He works as a farmer and day laborer, and he goes to cut sugar cane at the coast for some months. My mother’s name is Maria. She is 41 years old, and she is in good health too. She is a housewife and contributes a little with the income when she sells her domestic animals. We have hens and one sheep at home. We grow corn for our consumption. We are a humble family, and our greatest needs are groceries.

Well, I am going to tell you about me now. I am 12 years old, and I am healthy. I am in fifth grade, and I am happy to receive face-to-face classes because it is easier to learn the lessons. Thankfully, the school expenses are not so high in my village. I hope I can continue with my studies. My favorite year’s celebration is Christmas because we eat “tamales” in our family. I enjoy my birthday because my family prepares me a lunch. I love drinking “Incaparina” (drinks made from rice and soy). I prefer soccer as a sport. I speak Quiche dialect as my first language, so I want to improve my Spanish. Living Water and you are very important for us because I am blessed with food and gifts.
