My Story

Hello! I greet you wishing you a successful day. I want to share a little about my family and me in this opportunity. My name is Sergio Fernando Gutierrez Mendez and I am 9 years old. My mother`s name is Maria Mendez Riz. She is 35 years old. Currently, she take care of the family, and she continues raising hens to sell and get some income My father`s name is Domingo Gutierrez Morente. He is 40 years old.  Nowadays, he continues earning a living by working as a farmer and day laborer traveling to the coast at any time of the year. We grow corn for the family`s consumption. As a big and humble family, our current needs are corn and groceries. Nowadays, we are attending Full Gospel Church. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who encouraged my mother to continue seeking God. So, she is sure of her salvation in Jesus. Thank God, all my family and I are in good health.

This year, I am in 2nd grade at school. I continue receiving face-to-face classes every day and I have been learning well so far!  My parents strive to support my siblings and me at school. At the time, school fees are expensive, and sometimes it is difficult to cover all expenses due to a lack of stable jobs. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish to improve my communication with the people in the village.  My favorite celebration of the year is “New Year” because our custom is to light fireworks. What I like to drink is apple juice. Among sports, I prefer to play soccer. I want to let you know that I do not celebrate my birthday due to a lack of economic resources.  We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year´s end. Take care. Many blessings!

Hugs with much love,

Sergio Fernando Gutierrez Mendez
