My Story

Jocotenango, where your child lives, is in the state of Sacatepéquez, Guatemala and is a suburb of Antigua. It is an urban environment and is inhabited by both Quiché Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). Most of the children attend school, but financial hardship affects many families and forces most of the children to leave after the sixth grade. Only one out of ten children finish high school. Children in this area face temptations from gangs and drugs.

Hello! My name is Jose Abraam Reyes Gil, and I was born on May 30, 2012. Currently, I am 11 years old, and I am in 5^th grade. I am in good health, and I enjoy playing soccer in my free time. My favorite food is pizza. I love the colors black and white, and the animal I like the most is the cat. At the moment, my family and I are not attending a church. I only have one sister. My father’s name is Daniel Reyes Marcos, and he repairs electronic devices to support us; he has a small workshop at home. My mother’s name is Lesbia Liliana Gil Marquez, and she works hard at home and takes care of us.

We live with my paternal grandparents, and my paternal uncles live with us too. The house has five rooms, and we only use one of the rooms; we use it as bedroom and kitchen at the same time. The house is made of concrete block with a tin sheet roof and concrete roof. Thankfully, we have running water and electricity services; we help to pay these bills. We have two cats as pets. We are praying to God so that He provides us the resources to buy another bed because we are all sleeping in the same bed; please join us in our prayers. I walk for 10 minutes to arrive at the feeding program. I tell you that my mom helped me to give this personal information to a LW Evangelism teacher. I am happy to be part of the Ministry.
