My Story

Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Dueñas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

Hello! My name is Obed Edon Guachin Lopez. My birthdate is December 30, 2023, which makes me 9 years of age now. I am in 3^rd grade this year. My hobbies are playing marbles, football and basketball. I love the color yellow, and my favorite animal is the dog. The meals I love are stew, sausages and fried chicken. I live with my parents and one sister; we all are fine. We have a Chihuahua dog called Toby, and a parakeet as a pet.

My father´s name is Obed Eliazar Guachin Hernandez. He makes a living by building houses since he is a bricklayer; he struggles for our family. My mother´s name is Sandra Lorena Lopez Ortiz. She stays busy with the housework at home. My family and I attend Liberty Church from LW. We live on our property; there is one room made of blocks with a cement roof and a ceramic floor. We have electricity and running water; my father pays for them. As a family, our basic needs are food, clothing, and footwear. I walk about 25 or 30 minutes to get to the feeding program. My mother Sandra Lopez provided my personal information to the Living Water staff for my registration in the program. Sending much love. Many and abundant blessings to you!
